Failure

Well it seems like I will be drinking that horrible orange stuff once again. I failed my one hour GD test. The level needed to be below 140, mine was 178. In my head I know I am going to fail the 3 hour one too. It is easier for me this way, so if I do pass I will be truely surprised. I am doing the test on Wednesday morning. My sister said I need to blog more about this pregnancy and it looks like I will have something to talk about now. The thing that concerns me is between now and Wednesday what in the hell do I eat? I really felt like I was doing a good job of not eating too much junk. I mean hell I crave apples! So if anyone has any words of advice feel free to pass them on.

My nutritionist put me on a diet that was a modified Gest. Diabetic one. Mainly, spread the carbs out throughout the day; 30 carbs at breakfast (sample 3/4 cup of Special K; 1/2 cup milk; 1/2 blueberries (on top or whatever) or 1/2 banana); 15 carbs as a mid-morning snack (Sample fruit or light cottage cheese or 1 tbs. of peanut butter on toast or fruit); 45 carbs at lunch (a Smart ones low carb entree or 2 slices of whole grain bread with turkey; lettuce tomato, cheese); 15 carbs for mid afternoon snack (cereal bars, carrot sticks, etc); 45 carbs for dinner (chicken/lean meat/pork;1 potato or 2/3 cup of rice; cooked veggies).

Essentially stave of cravings with good carbs and/or proteins (a sandwich, with lettuce and tomato)

Eat plenty of veggies and proteins. I've been doing a LOT of carrot sticks and grapes (until I am really kinda sick of 'em)

I hope that helps.

Good luck on Wednesday!!

When I was pregnant with my now 14 month old, I failed the 3 hour test too. But then, I passed the longer test. My doc told me to do nothing different in my diet until we knew for sure.

I hope things work out fine for you.
