Colonoscopy

Ok well let me start with the day before. The prep stuff you have to drink is horrible but somehow I got it down. It says that it works in 30 minutes to 6 hours. Well about 15 minutes later I was in the bathroom for the first of about 1000 times that day. At one point I did not make it and my son was so kind to inform me " it's ok mommy accidents happen, just try to get there in time next time." How can you not love that kid? I am not really sure how I managed to driink the second part of the prep but I choked it down about 7pm. I drank as much liquids as I could to try an avoid a dehydration headache but it did not work. I woke up yesterday with the mother of all headaches. It hurt so bad I wanted to cry but I knew if I did I would be in worse pain. So I get to the hospital and they finally take me back. Everyone was so nice to me. My nurse Sandy would be with me for the whole thing and she promised I wouldn't feel a thing, lying wench. I really like her though when I asked her if it was sad that I couldn't wait for the IV to help rid me of the headache she replied yeah that is sick! Cracked me up for sure. She is just my kind of person. I was really dehydrated so she had a tough time finding a vein but in the end got it in one try. Into the room we went and once everything was setup they gave me the drugs and started the colonoscopy. That did not really hurt I was only uncomfortable when they were putting the gas or air or whatever it was in before the scope. The pressure from that sucked. They did find and remove a polyp don't know what the deal is with that yet. After that it was time for the gastroscopy. This is a tube down your throat, they numbed the back of my throat with this nasty spray stuff. The next thing i remember is them trying to get this tube down my throat and me kinda fighting it. It was horrible I felt like I was gagging and choking at the same time. It was so bad just thinking about it brings it all back. My nurse kept trying to calm me down and finally they gave me more drugs. I remember it sounded like I was trying to throw the tube up over and over. They think I have gastric erosion and want me on Prilosic half hour before breakfast each day. They also want a follow up gastro in 6 weeks. I am not really sure if I am up for that again so soon. I came home yesterday in a drug induced stupor. It was great! I dozed in and out most of the afternoon and evening on the couch. I sure got plenty of rest and a whole lot of material on GERD. Today I am dealing with a very sore throat but other than that I am fine.
