The Family Bed

I said I would never do the family bed. I like my space at night, then Terrell was born and he slept in our room at night for about 4 or 5 months in a bassinet. I would bring him in the bed with me when Tony left to cuddle up as we call it. I loved those early morning hours where my little baby was warm and snuggly next to me. T transitioned to his room, it wasn't easy but we did it, he still came to Momma in the mornings though. We moved on from the crib to a toddler bed, Terrell hated it I think. He just would not sleep in it at night. We found him in our bed more and more often and it was ok but not exactly what I wanted. The hotel I worked at started getting new beds and offered the employees the old ones if we wanted. Tony was against it because T was so little but I said hell ya. Terrell now has a full size bed in his room, he is more comfortable, I am more comfortable. I can go in and lay with him when he doesn't feel good or is scared and he has lots of room to roll around. You see my little boy is all over the place in his sleep. He still comes to our beds most nights, long after we are asleep, it bothers Tony more than me now. I love that warm little body up against mine all secure and knowing he is loved. We do still put him back in his bed and I know one day he won't come in our room as much so I am learning to cherish this time. After all he won't always want to cuddle his Momma.

Do you do the family bed thing?
Have your feelings about it changed since you became a mom?
