Cranky Pants

Picture it if you will, a child awakens at 3 am talking to Mommy about the baby on the ceiling. Mom tells child go back to sleep it is the middle of the night. This was my house on Tuesday night. I had a migraine and without thinking took Excedrin migraine forgetting that it has caffeine in it. At 11:30 I finally started to doze off only to awaken to T. I swear I think he is either sleepwalking or on LSD. The kid has the strangest dreams. So it is 3 am and he is showing no signs of falling back to sleep until it is time to get up of course. I dragged my sorry butt in to work and was surprised by how alert I felt. I picked up T did a bit of house work and then cranky pants started. He was crying over every little thing. I needed to hold him so he could sleep, well seeing as it was on 5 inn the evening that wasn't happening. He whined and kicked and screamed and basically pulled an all out tantrum. God it was a thing of beauty. Tony and I decided he really was tired so I took him into his room for bed now he wanted my arm around him and I mean tightly. He was so scared I was going to stop holding him. I got an itch and couldn't scratch it without him freaking. Anyway fast forward Tony has him in the living room holding him tightly once again. In about 20 minutes he was asleep enough to be put down without noticing. He slept all night until 6:30am, I guess 12 hours was what he needed. Let me note we do not normally hold out child until he falls asleep last night he was overtired and upset and we decided that was the easiest thing to do to make him feel safe. Momma who had also been up since 3am did not throw a tantrum or have Daddy hold me until I fell asleep. I was out by 7:30 and need to watch AI the guys today before the big vote off. Well we are off for breakfast now, no more cranky pants around.
